Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
